Burkman Brothers & Dalaga Sisters Launch Events

Thursday, May 10th at 6pm,  two New York City fashion events simultaneously launched. I entered 521 5th Avenue for The Tourist x Burkman Brothers Launch Event at Urban Outfitters, hosted by design-duo Ben & Doug Burkman.

Ben and Doug both started their careers at The GAP before launching their brand, the Burkman Bros Collection. With a distinctive approach, they modified classic menswear. The Tourist Collection is a younger, more affordable line, inspired by the brothers’ summer travel to Greece.

Onto the next event I went, the Dalaga SoHo Grand Opening at Kenmare Street. The sister-duo, Michelle and May Mangiliman, turned their childhood game of shop-keeping their mother’s closet into a reality. During their six successful years in Greenpoint Brooklyn, New York Magazine featured them for “Best Dresses” and Refinery29 named them “Brooklyn’s #1 Classic Boutique.”

The SoHo store opened its doors to a throng of people with sweet deals, like 10% off of everything in the store, cupcakes by Kumquat Cupcakery and a large ice-bucket of Dos Equis.

Dalaga is stocked with an array of clothing, shoes and accessories, all from distinguished designers. I loved the vast selection of Tribal jewelry, fragrances, sun-wear and leather clutches. From the runways of Salvatore Ferragamo (Fall 2011) to Lady Gaga, the store carried hounds-tooth print in a pair of chic shorts, cute horse-print shorts (very Mui Mui inspired), and collared lace blouses.
