GQ magazine hosts an evening of cocktails, grooming and fashion-styling, for a Springtime wardrobe project upgrade.

Fellow Barber graced the scene with their signature bespoke trimmings and shavings, while the shirt experts at Turnbull & Asser presented tailor-made woven-silk ties and slim-fit shirts. DJay Jung shook things up with a cohesive blend of music as Bombay Sapphire flowed from the bar.

Men’s suits in shades of blue and grey featured throughout. GQ Executive Stylist Brett Fahlgren consulted with shoppers. Pressing a grey Hugo Boss suit jacket against his chest, one client asked, “Can I really pull off the color grey?” To which Brett casually replied, “Grey blazers are a year-round staple.”

In a candid interview with Jesenia’s Goodie Bag, Brett reveals what’s hot in menswear for Spring 2014. He begins to describe a laid back, sophisticated look, comprised of ultra-lightweight bold-colored sweaters (in sky blue and kelly green), paired with medium length shorts (about mid-thigh) for a camp short appeal, and classic white sneakers with a pop of color (think red-heeled adidas Stan Smith shoes). For outerwear, Fahlgren declares the versatile allure of a tan, unlined, lightweight, thin lapel Hugo Boss trench coat, and 2-button cotton sports jacket. Regarding accessories, Brett vouches for thin, cotton ties.
