Date: August 20. Venue: 49 Grove
In the stylishly intimate 49 Grove lounge, DIAJA designer Ceres Dasia Henry teases her audience with a Spring 2015 preview of her Black Label Collection.
The young designer discloses to JGB Editor the inspiration behind her newest collection, a mirror image of her journey as a designer.
Fashion imitates life, as white ensembles symbolize growth and optimism, monochrome themes display a period of harnessing her craft, while the bright splashes of color signify her initial steps of “coming out” to the fashion world, and the technological touches are Ceres coming into full circle as a true designer. Other influences included art by Pop-Neoist Artist Tripp Derrick Barnes.
Under the tutelage of fashion designer Norma Kamali, Ceres found a mentor and mother-figure.
The Ready-To-Wear collection included laidback menswear with track suits, two-tone fabric and Technicolor, while women’s showcased bold hues, textured fabric, sophisticated prints, embellishment, and LED technology.
Ceres tells Jesenia’s Goodie Bag she plans to share her entire Black Label Collection during September’s New York Fashion Week.
