Vivienne Tam pulls from Chinese tradition with a contemporary twist. Inspired by the Ming & Qing Dynasty, Tam invites us to Beijing’s imperial palace Forbidden City.

Using images of wildlife, landscapes and regional botanical in her embroidery, flora and prints, Vivienne offers up her interpretation of elegant street-style fashion in wonderful techno power mesh, cut-out and eyelet styles in poppy knit, silk, Jacquard and lace fabric, in saturated multi-colors, dip dye, red lacquer, abstract pearl and stripes, with complimentary tones in plum, olive, teal, grey and monochrome.

Shift dresses dominated the runway in both short-sleeve and sleeveless styles. Manchurian shirts were paired with coquettish skirts, silky pajamas, and micro or court shorts, with matching cardigans and jackets.

Tam’s collection of jade-green handbags, camel zippered totes, pink backpacks and citrus wristlets were only matched by equally charming two-toned clutches, shoulder bags and satchels.

Footwear was easy-going and fashion-forward, buckle sandals combined with striped ankle dress socks.
