Marie Claire Magazine – Denim For Days – Fashion Show Presentation

Date: Wednesday, August 12. Venue: Bloomingdale’s – 59^th Street

Marie Claire magazine and Bloomingdale’s join forces at Y.E.S Contemporary Sportswear, for an evening of transitional pieces and denim fashion. DJ C. Devone, was on the scene, wearing an ebony colored zipped, Lycra top.

Floor display capsulized the best of Fall fashion, from 80’s themed fishnet blouses, to 90’s inspired hooded, belted, sleeveless styles, flannel button shirts, and timeless graphic t-shirts, knitted tees and sweaters. Vintage influenced denim patchwork skirts, and nostalgically Courtney Love cranberry shirt dress, with other essentials, like cargo bottoms with zip detail, buttery leather pants, and denim staples in black slim fit, stone wash, and shredded white.

Outerwear was complimentary, starting with versatile paisley scarves, luxurious fur stoles, long woolly cardigans, addictive motorcycle jackets, and widely popular army fatigue printed bomber jackets. Leather cross body bags came in dusty pink hues, earth tones, and some with studding. 70’s embossed wool floppy hats are back! Peep-toe booties are all the rage in supple leather with chunky heels or strappy design.

Bloomingdale’s Brooke Jaffe and Marie Claire’s Brittany Kozerski were both dressed in Alexa Chung for AG Jeans.

The Styling Presentation showcased 8 wearable styles, beginning with a Janice Joplin friendly bellowy floral top, groovy grape hued fur vest, flared denim, statement medallion necklace, and a cross body bag, with subtle, nude peep-toe shoes.

Other Anna Sui romantic looks included a semitransparent long sleeve shirt, braided and semi-flared denim pants, creamy colored leather bag, and soft, velvet, peep-toe shoes.

Hints of Burberry-like fashion came in a beige trench coat, matched with a rich, ribbed shirt, mod dark denim button skirt, and brown suede, retro styled, flat, thigh high boots.

For Casual Fridays, a flirty neck scarf, sleeveless top, forgiving high-waist dark denim skirt, and leather, pointed, kitten heels.

 JGB Editor’s favorite outfit was hands down the zipper leather jacket, coupled with a semi-sheer knitted sweater shirt, skinny, olive, cargo pants, and leather, peep-toe booties.

Olivier Rousteing would be proud with this Balmain inspired studded cargo jacket, school girl coy plaid button shirt, pale shredded skinnies, complete with patent pointed heels.

Weekend apparel in Alexa Chung themed shredded sleeveless denim shift dress, with comfy, white sneakers, and Girl With The Dragon Tattoo-ish  zippered, aubergine leather jacket, paint splatter shirt, faint denim skinnies, and street style charming leather sneakers.

Inside August’s Marie Claire is an entire issue dedicated to denim fashion, Alexa Chung must-have’s with an article on AG Jeans, YSL rock & roll collages, winter florals, folk looks, and Hip Hop styles.
