Jewelry Empire, Alexis Bittar, from humble beginnings to storefronts in over 34 countries. Let the tale begin. Bit by the craftsmanship bug at the ripe age of 13, Alexis Bittar began selling antique jewelry as a young adult, before launching his own brand. His audaciously brilliant creations landed him space at Bergdorf Goodman, SAKS Fifth Avenue and an incredible collaboration with MOMA. Fashion designers took heed, and like Cinderella’s glass slipper, Alexis Bittar was promptly scooped by fashion houses like Burberry, Michael Kors and Jason Wu. Television soon followed with a feature in the iconic HBO show Sex In The City, a seat in the CFDA members committee and simultaneously winning a CDFA award. Spreads for VOGUE Paris, VOGUE Italia, Harper’s Bazaar and Time Magazine. Even first lady Michelle Obama adorned herself in Alexis Bittar, and of course, my favorite pop star fashionista, Lady Gaga.
With such a huge reputation, I was unsurprised at the throng of Ladies Who Lunch on Level 1, all helplessly enamored by the famed jewelry designer who greeted his guests with unparalleled love. On display was the Alexis Bittar: Spring 2013 Collection and Alexis Bittar for Bloomingdale’s Exclusives. The collection was simplistic yet powerful, a cool color palate of black and green on silver with delectable choices in onyx and prehnite gemstone, necklaces in bib and dangling-form and other finely tuned geometric chains, earrings and cuffs. Hammered-gold covered in carnelian gem, smoky quartz and white topaz in cuff, teardrop necklaces and earrings, and an exquisite diamond-encrusted leaf necklace. Splendid caged cuffs and earrings dipped in black topaz and diamond on precious silver. @Alexis.Bittar
