Date: March 13. Venue: Bloomingdale’s – 59th Street

Bloomingdale’s celebrates the tastemakers in fashion with a designer appearance extravaganza and fashion show presentation. Guests of honor included Yizal Azrourel, Trina Turk, Cynthia Rowley, Rebecca Minkoff, Mara Hoffman, Nanette Lapore, Michelle Smith (of Milly), Rebecca Taylor, Amy Smilovic (of Tibi), Ronny Kobo (of Torn), Derek Farrar (of Parker), Cynthia Vincent (of Twelfth Street) and Amanda Uprichard.

Brooke Jaffe (Fashion Director of Bloomingdale’s) conducted a Q&A with each designer. Rebecca Minkoff and Cynthia Vincent attributed their children as inspiration, while Rebecca Taylor channeled music legend David Bowie and Mara Hoffman 60’s & 80’s fashion and music icon Cher.

Trina Turk reminisced about her first Candies shoes, while Cynthia Rowley sheepishly recanted memories of her mother gushing over her first fashion-styling editorial for Play Boy magazine, and Nanette Lepore revered her pattern-maker for fifteen years of tutelage and service.

Following the Q&A was a fashion show presentation, featuring highlights from each designer’s collection.

Monochrome pieces came as separates and in dress-form in kaleidoscope style and fashioned with harnesses. Floral themes, Hawaiian prints and colors in vivid coral-red, cobalt-blue and peachy-apricot.

Classic white was paired down casually in perforated fabric, and dresses shined bright in mutli-colors, graphic corals, electric pinks and tie dye styles.

Jesenia’s Goodie Bag nabbed a Bloomingdale’s goody bag. Inside was a tribal-printed Mara Hoffman iPhone 5 case, an earth-tone scarf by Yizal Azrourel, Trina Turk and Cynthia Vincent wallets in metallic and lace, neon Amanda Uprichard pouch, canvas totes from Rebecca Taylor and Amanda Uprichard, orange-red nail polish by Rebecca Minkoff, and a Bloomingdale’s exclusive daily planner book.
