During New York Fashion Week Robyn Rihanna Fenty dropped her much anticipated Autumn/Winter 2016 Fenty PUMA by Rihanna collection, a gender neutral, sporty, fashion line with everything you need, from shoes to apparel and accessories. Like a walk through Rih Rih’s closet, the collection was intimate, urban-friendly, with hints of Japanese imagery.
Bras that doubled as a crop tops with rope lacing, wrap around fabric and cross back styles. More traditional tops included oversized, graphic, crewneck t-shirts, some with drawstring detail, sweatshirts with red sun motif and roped fronts, and kimono sleeved crop crew and mock necks. Bottoms were of plenty, a mix of fitted skirts, side slit leggings and sweatpants, tearaway and kimono track pants, oversized pants with attached boxers, and a mod racer back jumpsuit.
Dresses in black & white and colorblocking were also fitted and roped, some accented with a piercing zipper puller. Nomura Hitoshi artwork, Japanese writing and lucky number 13 showcased on kimono and tearway track jackets.
90’s sneaker heels made a comeback, reinvented with the signature PUMA strip and sleek stiletto, along with the nylon do-rag, an 80’s sweat band fashioned into a 90’s inspired choker, and too cool for school velvet lace up backpack.
The Pop Up Shop’s featured deejay spun a mix of Rihanna’s hits, while fashion stylist Sarah Slutsky welcomed customers and offered helpful fashion tips.
