September 2011 VOGUE Beauty Japan features models wearing exaggerated liner, (very reminiscent of Zac Posen Beauty Fall 2010), thanks to Lady Gaga’s makeup strategy in her music video “Edge of Glory.”

CHANEL Pre-Fall was inspired by Empress Theodora from the Byzantium (an Eastern Roman Empire said to be Christian and predominately Greek-speaking) explaining much of the influence in the messy beehive-ish up-do, filigree headbands, the layering of jeweled chains, satin fabric and intricate precious stone brocade.

Again we see a focus on exaggerated liner, but slightly different with its variation in colors.

For those of you who prefer a subtle approach to the Byzantine look, fall in love with CHANEL Rouge AllureRouge Byzantine Luminous Satin Lip Colour. (Model Anais Pouliot displays a similar rich Rouge Byzantine color on her lips.)

Alexander McQueen (SPRING 2010)
Alexander McQueen (SPRING 2010)

Booties are such an important part of my wardrobe because of their versatility. Several times I’ve asked the Reps at Alexander McQueen to please re-invent a boot version of their chrome-shoe from SPRING 2010, but until they do so, we’ll just have to refocus our attention to recently released booties.

GIVENCHY
Yves Saint Laurent (Eiffel Tower Boots) (SPRING 2009)

GIVENCHY (Patent-Leather Cage Ankle Boots): The spirit of the Eiffel Tower Boots from SPRING 2009 Yves Saint Laurent is alive and well in this re-born style. The wrap-around belt-n-buckle adds a cool tough-girl image. I especially like these booties for any closet-pieces decorated in zippers, from anything to blouses, pants, leather jackets, skirts or dresses.

VERSACE

VERSACE (Pin-Heeled Nappa Leather Ankle Boots): A cigarette heel provocatively defies gravity, followed by a nice pairing of leather and patent-leather. This design fits perfectly into a work or social event wardrobe.

BURBERRY

BURBERRY (Quilted-Leather Ankle Boots): Rain boots are predominately not sexy. We’ve all seen women in the City strut around in rain boots up to their knees; the look is basically flat and bulky. Burberry understands the art of dressing for a storm— any storm! This style compliments the look of trousers, dresses, skirts, even denim.

DIOR

DIOR (Red Snake-Skin Flap Bag on Chain): Since the departure of John Galliano, the house will have to rely heavily on his blueprints to survive. This bag is very empowering with its exotic skin, link chain and frontal hardware, able to withstand the test of time and compliment most (if not all) outfit ensembles.

CHANEL

CHANEL (Pouch): This is an on-the-go bag, suitable for a date, a party or when you simply just want to carry nothing more than a house-key, credit card and a tube of CHANEL lipstick.

CHANEL

CHANEL (Patent Mademoiselle Flap Bag on Chain) (Cream Color): Same structure, different color, always classic.
