Over cocktails and Magnum ice cream (courtesy of Refinery29 launch party) I met Jacqueline Cruz. Her hair pinned in a loose up-do, leopard blouse, black skirt, nude patent Louboutin heels and a Monogram Canvas Louis Vuitton tote. Adorning her ears, neck and wrist were what can only be described as Alexander McQueen-Lady Gaga hybrid jewelry. Turns out, Jacqueline designs her own accessories.

The native Brooklynite started her craft in 1999, introducing charm necklaces way before Tiffany & Co. made them sensational. In her beginning stages (living in Bedford-Stuyvesant), she developed a street edge that is translated into most of her pieces, and much like McQueen, Jacqueline draws from strength and sensuality like armor, using elements of heavy metals, spikes, skulls and Swarovski crystals. Jacqueline grew up in a community that valued style, “It was all about Bling and Glitz, along with attitude.” she gushed, making the accessory process almost instinctive.

Her inspiration is simple; a desire for originality. With her change of mood she cultivates an array of presences, from NY Chic to Rocker-Glam.

After years of trend-setting, Jacqueline finally launched GLITZGROUP on May 2011.
