Date: October 18. Venue: SAKS Fifth Avenue (611 5TH AVENUE)
Carolina Herrera Venezuelan-American fashion designer since 1980. A media favorite, dubbed best dressed woman in the world. Her most iconic client included former first lady, Jackie O. Winner of the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award and Mercedes-Benz Presents award for a 7-year remarkable reign in fashion. Her cinematic début came with a wedding dress design for fictional Twilight Saga character Bella Swan. But Carolina Herrera is more than just a fashion designer, she is a philanthropist, most notably for her latest effort, the Key To The Cure, an exclusive T-Shirt designed by Carolina herself to help fight against cancer. Carolina expressed that the tree image on her T-Shirt is in fact a display of the globe to show a visual importance of such a cause. SAKS Fifth Avenue proudly joined forces with Carolina, donating 2% of all proceeds to both local and national cancer charities. Carolina Herrera Key To The Cure campaign girl and Ambassador of EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund, Penelope Cruz, also joined the cause, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to EIF (Entertainment Industry Foundation) at participating stores. International design consultant Fern Mallis interviewed Carolina Herrera live on SiriusXM Radio to discuss this remarkable Key To The Cure event. Fans of Carolina lined up outside the store-front with their Key To the Cure T-Shirts in hand, waiting for their chance to land a signature from the designer. Even Miss J (International Runway Coach) stood in line, posed for photos with Carolina and received a signed Key To The Cure T-Shirt.
