Abracadabra NYC, more than just a costume and prop store, it’s a beauty haven for makeup experts, beauty aficionados, and beginners looking to spice up their cosmetics bag. In an exclusive interview, Abracadabra NYC Cosmetics Creative Director, Kenneth Llambelis, shares with JGB Editor the creation and launch of Liquid Matte Lip. The 8 long-wearing, luxurious, lippie collection, he tells us, were named after Miss Abracadabra NYC pageant finalists, a 6 week-long competition running from June-July and held at the historical Stonewall Inn.

The winner, California’s Napa Valley, Judy Darling, was given the opportunity to choose a color that best represents her character and went with a Judy Garland inspired classic Hollywood red. The seven other finalists were assigned colors, but each hue was also given their performance name.

Aquaria: With her incredible good looks and brilliant makeup artistry, Kenneth paired Aquaria with a vivid, hot pink lip shade.

Avant Garbage: Known for turning scrap material into artwork, this crafty queen was matched with a neutral nude taupe; a juxtaposition to her wild imagination.

Bella Biscotti: A powerful songstress, named after a delectable Italian almond biscuit, with a taste for provocative fashion, seemed like a natural fit for a nude shade.

Erika Klash: An anime dreamer with a colorful personality gives good face in bright coral.

Ivy Ferriya: Fierce stage presence, powerful Latin dance moves, and sun-kissed skin, Kenneth explains Ivy Ferriya personifies the same theatrical fire exhibited in Maria’s character from the 1961 musical West Side Story and chose for her an ox blood-red lip color.

Maci Sumcox: Move over Queen Elizabeth, England’s Rose is hands down Maci Sumcox! Impeccable charm, delightful humor, and a distinguishable accent, Maci is sitting pretty in rose-pink.

Ragamuffin: Brooklyn performer Ragamuffin is radiant in mauve purple.

As part of a special Halloween themed collection, 3 additional liquid matte lip colors were introduced to the liquid matte lip family.

Brita Filter: The “Anything but pure” powerhouse is a crowd favorite and wears dark blue lip color like a pro.

Miss Abracadabra NYC pageant finalists came to show their support at the Liquid Matte Lip Collection launch event, some wearing their lip color, like Erika Klash. The girls drank white wine and chatted amongst themselves.

Judy Darling, also wearing her signature lip color, took selfies with other pageant girls, livestreamed Instagram videos, and applied lip color on friends, while Bella Biscotti, Maci Sumcox, Ari Kiki swatched the latest eye shadows, lipsticks and matte glosses at the makeup counter.
