Located in West Orange New Jersey, spanning about 11,000 square feet with over 1,400 animals is the Turtle Back Zoo, its name inspired by the original landowners (the Lanape Indians) who named the area turtle back rock after its turtle back appearance.
Since 1963, the zoo has enthralled its community, featuring a mini antique train that travels one mile around the property’s woodlands. Families will enjoy the touch tank, picnic pavilion, animal themed playground and carousel. The zoo houses species from each continent, with the exception of Antarctica. Enjoy bird watching in free flight aviaries.
