Date: November 29th. Venue: Museum of the Moving Image
For family friendly fun, head on over to Astoria, Queens, and spend a day with Jim Henson’s muppets. See characters from Sesame Street (1969) and Fraggle Rock (1983). Get a behind the scenes look at the creative process, from photos to scripts, film and tv clips, props, even interactive stations, and so much more. Also showcasing at the museum were movie characters like Star Wars Chewbacca, Steven Speilber’s “E.T.” (1984), and Jim Carrey’s “The Mask” (1994). To celebrate over a 100 years of cinema, artifacts included vintage stage makeup, film gear, and the evolution of the television.
For refreshments and light bites, the Moving Image Café is your place to unwind, with great views overlooking the courtyard. Treat yourself to a snack or lunch. All goods sourced from local bakeries. Coffee lovers can continue their post-show festivities at Padoca Bakery on East 67th Street in Manhattan. Seasonal drinks include the teddy graham or gingerbread latte, iced or hot. Make it snow by adding whipped cream and marshmallows.
