Date: September 12. Venue: The Arc – Moynihan Station
Vivienne Tam takes us on a galactic journey into outer space during New York Fashion Week. Inspired by a recent trip to Houston (Texas), Tam found her inspiration in a Texas Rodeo, NASA’s headquarters and Houston’s vibrantly diverse greenery, and created her very own Space Cowboy Spring line. Vivienne wowed the audience with a unique color palette of bayou greens, astro oranges, NASA blues and carefully selected embroidery from indigenous blooms to fluttery butterflies, little armadillos, rodeo symbols and even giant pandas.
Knit tops and tee shirts bore sequin, rodeo print and scenic logos in monochrome, pops of yellow, pink cotton and tie dye. Pleated skirt styles fashioned from elegant lace fabric in ivory and ebony hues, while pants were edgy in black/white tie dye design. Silk cotton, lace and denim dresses shined in garden print, butterfly appliqués and NASA/Rodeo badges.
Jacket were on trend in twill, jacquard and bomber styles, fashioned with checkered prints, NASA/Rodeo/Houston logos and floral embroidery in deep navy and intense red, then trickling to softer pinks, metallic silvers and chromatic hues.
Sitting front row was singer/songwriter/actress Christina Milian looking ravishing in a classic black ensemble and fur stole. Post show Miss Milian made her way backstage to pose for photos with Tam’s signature handbag and iPhone case.
