Beloved interior designer and fashion icon Iris Apfel celebrates her 95th birthday at Story with an exclusive jewelry trunk show. A Queens native, Apfel and her husband of 67 years began a textile business that has served nine U.S. Presidents, from Truman to Clinton. Throughout the decades, Arpel’s eclectic, trendsetting ways, have accumulated into an impressive collection of statement jewelry. On display were Apfel’s personal collection, one-of-a-kind pieces straight from her boudoir.

Curated by Mrs. Arpfel herself, the collection featured a fanciful tri-colored blue beaded cluster necklace, mermaid looks included a multicolored mineral stone necklace with pearl accents and ivory husk detail, and tribal options came in a pendant necklace embossed in red cabochon and turquoise, and stacked gold chain necklace with a wooden backpiece.

Her bracelets were bold, massive and absolutely breathtaking, beautifully crafted in sturdy silver with turquoise embellishment, while acrylic styles donned candy colors in vivid purples, radiant reds, striking yellows, cool greens and intense blues. Diamond studding molded over floral, reptile and feline shapes in canary, emerald, white, blue topaz and sapphire.

Stylish as always, Apfel looked stunning in her big round signature glasses, wrapped in a boa and long quilted lavender jacket. Her neckline was stacked with big red, ebony and crème beaded necklaces with matching acrylic and wood carved bracelets. Makeup was effortless, a fresh face paired with rose colored lips and bright red nail polish.
