Lei Van Kash: Trunk Show Event

Date: September 11. Venue: WiNK (Bleecker Street)

Jewelry Designer Leila Kashanipour crosses the pond from London to the West Village for her New York appearance and Lei Van Kash jewelry collection unveiling, hosted by fashion blogger Soraya Bakhtiar. Stocked over a marble table were clusters of bespoke bracelets, pendent necklaces and rings in floral, feather, skull-face, dagger, colorful precious minerals and beading. While gazing at all the fine pieces, my heart locked on the Skullmania collection. The inspiration behind this, as Leila disclosed, dates back to her second year at Central Saint Martins for her Memento Mori project and sourcing Vanitas paintings as part of her creativity, while lightly touching on the fragile mortality of humanity, the inevitability of death and the importance of being good. This Latin-rooted assemblage touches on everything from Ancient Rome to Medieval Times and the Victorian era. The use of nature and artifacts makes Lei Van Kash romantically enchanting. With features in Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue magazine (to name a few), it’s no wonder buyers from Dubai, Florence Welsh (of Florance And The Machine) , Rita Ora, and models Erin Wasson and Cara Delevinge are avid followers of Leila Kashanipour’s custom designs.
